Sporting CP in for Sevilla’s Carrico

Long-serving Sevilla defender Daniel Carrico looks set to exit the club this club with Sporting CP the most likely destination, say reports in Spain.

El Mundo Deportivo cite a report in El Desmarque which states the Lisbon-based club are in negotiations with the Portuguese defender, while Diario de Sevilla claim there is also interest from France.

The Cascais-native started his career at Sporting before having spells with AEL Limassol and Reading, before joining Sevilla in 2013.

The 30-year-old is the longest-serving player in the club’s squad alongside Nico Pareja, who also looks to depart Los Rojiblancos to join Mexican club Atlas.

The arrivals of Sergi Gomez and Joris Gnagnon this summer alongside the presence of Simon Kjaer and Gabriel Mercado mean opportunities for the experienced defenders will be limited.
