Sevilla defend N’Zonzi sale

Sevilla Director of Football Joaquin Caparros has defended the sale of Steven N’Zonzi: “We need a team who are focused with no distractions.”

The France international has joined Roma in a deal thought to be worth in the region of €32m after reportedly making clear he wished to leave the Andalusian club.

“Everyone knew that his intention was to leave Sevilla,” Caparros told Onda Cero.

“I'm happy for the three parties; for the footballer, for the club and for Roma. Ultimately, we need a team who are a focused, a united dressing room with no distraction for the Coach.

“In football it is essential that the player is comfortable, that he feels the club like that of Sevilla – we try to ensure that of all players.

“Pablo Sarabia’s renovation? We were always going to try and improve his contract regardless of interest from other clubs.

“He is an important player for us and we have made him a great offer, so we will see.”
