Reports: Modric staying at Madrid

Marca and AS agree Luka Modric will not be swayed by Inter and will stay at Real Madrid this season.

Both newspapers, known for their close links with Madrid, claim Modric will double his 6.5m salary at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The new contract would put the midfielder on par with the side’s second-highest earner Sergio Ramos.

It comes despite reports in Italy expecting crunch talks between the 32-year-old and Blancos chief Florentino Perez this weekend.

Inter are thought to have offered Modric a six-year contract, which would see him play with them for four years, before spending two at their Chinese sister club Jiangsu Suning.

Saturday marks a Madrid-Milan double-header, with the Rossoneri taking on Los Merengues in the Bernabeu Trophy and Atletico Madrid rounding off their International Champions Cup campaign against the Beneamata.
