Machin: Barca, Silva, N’Zonzi…

Pablo Machin says Sevilla ‘have a chance’ against Barcelona, Andre Silva ‘can do great things’ and Steven N’Zonzi ‘won’t go for a cut-price fee’.

Machin’s Sevilla face Barca in the Supercopa on Sunday, while Silva could make his debut after arriving from Milan and N’Zonzi’s €40m release clause remains in force.

“It’s a no-brainer that Barca are a super team, who specialise in winning Finals and have some of the best players in the world,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“However, one of the few sports where an inferior team can beat a superior one is football, and we have a chance. We’ll do the best we can and see what our opponents leave us.

“Silva is an excellent new signing, a player who is still young and we’ve made an important investment for him.

“Silva is a Portugal international, he can give a strong contribution with his presence in the box and is convinced he can do great things with us.

“Milan wanted to keep hold of him and he had other offers, but he chose us. I will count on N’Zonzi until the club tells me otherwise.

“He is an important player with quality beyond the norm, so he won’t be allowed to go for a cut-price fee.

“Sevilla have made it clear that N’Zonzi will leave for the figure of his release clause or at least something close to it.

“If anyone wants the player, they must reach an agreement with us first.”
