Madrid to raid Chelsea’s Courtois, Willian

Real Madrid are working on a €110m (£100m) double deal to land Chelsea pair Thibaut Courtois and Willian, according to reports.

Willian had been reported to be a prime transfer target for Barcelona, but their interest faded when a €65m bid was turned down and instead they signed Malcom from Bordeaux.

A report in The Mail alleges the European champions have submitted a double offer for the Brazilian forward and Courtois, a long-term target.

The Belgian international has made no secret of his desire to move back to the Spanish capital – where he played for Atletico Madrid and where his two children currently reside.

He has just one year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and his value in the deal is said to be in the region of €40m.

Madrid’s move for Willian is said to be in an attempt to ‘free up’ Gareth Bale, who could occupy the central forward role vacated by Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Los Blancos had also been linked with a move for playmaker Eden Hazard, but the FA Cup winners asking price in excess of €200m appears to have killed hopes of any deal.
