Madrid’s Theo Hernandez to La Real

Real Sociedad have agreed a loan deal for Real Madrid defender Theo Hernandez, which is not thought to include an option to buy permanently.

A multitude of Spanish reports say the full-back, who only joined the European Champions last summer in a €26m deal from Atletico Madrid, is set to depart.

Marca and Diario AS say La Real’s insistence on playing Theo regularly and their style of play was satisfactory for Madrid to sanction the deal.

The Basque show Gipuzcoa on Cadena Ser has reported the player as having already said his goodbyes to his Madrid teammates.

Marseille-born Hernandez, who spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Alaves, made just 13 appearances for Los Blancos last term and did not get the opportunities he expected.

Theo had been the primary back-up for first choice left-back Marcelo at the Bernabeu last season.
