N’Zonzi plan B for Barca?

Barcelona will not wait much longer to sign Adrien Rabiot and have identified Steven N’Zonzi as a possible alternative.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca could make a move for the Sevilla defensive midfielder, who has a €40m buy-out clause in his contract, as they are unwilling to wait until the end of the transfer market in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Rabiot.

The Catalans do not want a repeat of last summer when they were kept waiting by PSG following enquiries for Angel de Maria and Marco Verratti, while the signing of Malcom is a sign of how they intend to act in the current market.

The signing of Willian from Chelsea is also proving difficult to nail down, despite the Blaugrana willing to include Andre Gomes in any possible deal, but they know that if they can persuade N’Zonzi to come to the Camp Nou then there is no need for negotiations with Sevilla if the buy-out clause is met.

Nonetheless, Barca face competition for the 29-year-old France international from Premier League club Arsenal, who have been heavily linked with the player in the past week.
