Madrid keen on Keylor renewal

Real Madrid want to extend the contract of goalkeeper Keylor Navas despite reported interest in Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois.

The Costa Rica international, 31, has a contract at the Santiago Bernabeu that runs until June 2020 but, according to La Nacion in his own country, Los Blancos want him to renew his current agreement.

The publication maintains that Navas held talks with club officials before the World Cup and they are now well advanced, despite the player having received offers to depart the Spanish capital.

However, his first intention has always been to remain with Madrid, whom he joined for €10m from Levante in 2014, and an agreement could be struck when he returns from holiday.

La Nacion maintains that the arrival of new boss Julen Lopetegui poses no problem for Navas as the former Spain Coach is an admirer.  In fact, the newspaper insists Lopetegui tried to sign him when he was in charge of Porto and has already assured him he has a future with Madrid.

It is understood any new deal would be for a maximum of two years.
