N’Zonzi to Arsenal ‘depends on father’

Sevilla have told Arsenal they will sell midfielder Steven N’Zonzi below his €40m release clause if his father forfeits a sell-on clause, say Estadio Deportivo.

The report states that the midfielder’s father would receive a sell-on fee from the Andalusian club in an event of a transfer, which they are unwilling to pay.

The Gunners are said to be in negotiations for the France international while in turn, Sevilla would target Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko as a replacement.

N’Zonzi previously spent six years in the Premier League across stints with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, before joining Sevilla in 2015.

Unai Emery is the new Gunners boss and he was in the Sevilla hot-seat when the midfielder was brought to the Andalusian club.

Bakayoko, 23, started 34 matches in central midfield for Chelsea last season and the Paris-born midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge last summer from Monaco in a reported €40m deal.
