Argentina move ‘would tempt’ Simeone

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes Diego Simeone will coach Argentina at some point in his managerial career.

The former deep-lying midfielder was capped 106 times for his nation, netting 11 goals, and has been tentatively linked to the vacancy after the exit of Jorge Sampaoli.

“I think it would (tempt Simeone) but it is still very early for him to make that move,” Cerezo told Onda Cero’s El Transistor show.

“My advice would be for Diego to stay here for many more years and then at the end of his time, he would be in his best position to join Argentina.”

Simeone has been at the helm of Atleti since 2011 and led them to the league title three years later, two Europa League titles and two Champions League finals.
