Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on a €35m deal for Chelsea and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
According to Het Laaste Nieuws, an agreement is ‘imminent’, with Courtois to sign a five-year contract worth €11m a season gross.
The report was also brought to light by Marca, which claims the Belgian will set back Madrid ‘around €35m’, given he has only a year left on his Chelsea contract and wants to leave Stamford Bridge.
“All options are open for me. I could also stay at Chelsea,” he said after his country’s 2-0 win against England during Saturday’s World Cup third-place playoff.
“People always complain that players don’t fulfil their contracts, but maybe they do.
“I don’t think they’ll keep someone with my qualities on the bench, even if I don’t sign a renewal.”
The 26-year-old played for Madrid’s city rivals Atletico between 2011 and 2014, winning a Liga title with Diego Simeone’s side.
