Villarreal have agreed a deal to sign midfield starlet Santiago Caseres from Velez Sarsfield.
Velez confirmed on their official website that Caseres was on his way to Spain for a medical with Villarreal, before putting pen to paper on his contract.
Reports in Argentina claim the Yellow Submarine will pay around €8.5m for the 21-year-old, who made 35 appearances for the Buenos Aires club and had also been linked with Atletico Madrid.
Bringing in a midfielder had become a priority for Javi Calleja’s side, given Rodri Hernandez has joined Atleti, Manu Trigueros is a doubt for the start of next season, Alfred N’Diaye is surplus to requirements and Bruno Soriano remains out indefinitely.
