Real Betis have officially signed Portugal midfielder William Carvalho from Sporting CP in a reported €20m deal.
A statement on Betis’ official website confirms Carvalho has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, despite speculation linking him with the likes of Inter and Arsenal.
“With the signing of William Carvalho, Real Betis have signed a midfielder of calibre, strength and intelligence,” it continued.
The 26-year-old, who was born in Angola, made 193 appearances for Sporting and has represented Portugal 47 times, winning Euro 2016 with his country.
