Nzonzi backup for Barca?

Barcelona could reportedly raid Sevilla again for Steven Nzonzi if they fail to sign Adrien Rabiot.

Estadio Deportivo cites a report in Mundo Deportivo, which claims Nzonzi is Barca’s ‘Plan B’ if a deal for Rabiot does not bear fruit.

The newspapers explain that while the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is the Blaugrana’s first choice, his fellow Frenchman ‘knows La Liga perfectly’.

Consequently, it is for that reason that the Catalans have ‘no problem’ paying his €40m release clause, like they did for his former Sevilla teammate Clement Lenglet.

The 29-year-old would also be looking to leave Sanchez Pizjuan after Sunday’s World Cup Final against Croatia, although the Andalusians are not prepared to offer any discounts.

Nzonzi joined Sevilla from Stoke City in the summer of 2015 and has gone on to play 120 times for the side, winning a Europa League in his first season.

However, his relationship with the club became strained last term after he fell out with then-Coach Eduardo Berizzo, before partying in the wake of their 5-0 thrashing by Barca in the Copa del Rey Final.
