New Barcelona signing Arthur Melo has welcomed comparisons to club legends Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez: “they are a mirror for me.”
The 21-year-old completed his €39m move to the Camp Nou earlier this week and his first press conference saw him compared to two previous midfield captains.
“I am Arthur, I am my own person but these comparisons are fine, they have no affect on me,” Arthur told reporters, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.
“I have to prove myself to the club, to the fans and they were both the mirror for me and my career, they showed what can happen with hard work.
“This move is a dream for me, I know it will not be easy and I may have to suffer sometimes but that is how you learn and grown.
“To be compared to Xavi, to Iniesta, it’s fantastic. I have always admired them and hopefully they can continue to inspire me.”
