Modric ‘motivated by nonsense’

Croatia captain and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has stated ‘hearing so much nonsense’ propelled them to a first ever World Cup final.

The Croats will face France in Sunday’s final in Moscow and the 32-year-old stated the team were ‘motivated’ by what had been said in the press.

It was the nation’s third straight knockout match in knockout time and numerous media had cited they could be fatigued for their clash with the Three Lions.

“When you hear so much nonsense, you are motivated,” Modric is cited as saying by Cadena Cope.

“It's something historic and exciting to be in the World Cup final, we're physically very well and now a really tough opponent is awaiting in the final.

“Cristiano? He is unique, it's a shame he left, I thank him for everything he's done. For all of us we wish him the best, except when he plays against Madrid.”
