Barcelona have completed the signing of midfielder Arthur Melo from Brazilian club Gremio on a six-year contract, it has been confirmed.
The Catalan giants confirmed the transfer fee at €31m with €9m more in potential bonuses with the deal brought forward from the initial agreed date of January 2019.
Andres Iniesta and Paulinho have both left the Camp Nou this summer and Andre Gomes is also expected to depart, leaving the Blaugrana short in central midfield.
Meanwhile it is now thought that Colombian defender Yerry Mina will be allowed to depart so that the club do not exceed their quota of three non-EU players.
“The player will sign a contract with the club for the following six seasons, until the end of the 2023-24 campaign,” read a Barca statement.
Arthur joined Gremio in 2010 as a teenager and played a key part in their Copa Libertadores triumph last year.
