Gremio midfielder Arthur has confirmed that he will be ‘fulfilling a dream’ by joining Barcelona this summer.
Barca announced back in March that they had agreed a €39m deal to sign Arthur for next season, and the Brazilian starlet revealed he would be making the move after several conflicting reports.
“I wanted to leave with a Press conference to express the love I have for the Gremio fans,” he explained in front of reporters.
“I’m fulfilling a dream and I have to thank [Gremio] for this. It’s not a goodbye but rather a ‘see you later’ and I hope to be able to come back one day.
“Barca asked for me to move this summer, it was clubs who spoke. I didn’t participate in the negotiations.
“I’ve heard wonders about the club, city and fans, so I have big expectations for my arrival at Barcelona.”
Sporting director Andre Zanotta added: “Arthur will travel to Barcelona this weekend. Today he’s here to say goodbye to Gremio.
“We’re finalising the sale of Arthur. Only small details are missing, which will not be ironed out until [Saturday].”
