Out-of-contract Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez has arrived in Seville ahead of completing a free transfer to Real Betis.
The 23-year-old established himself as first choice shot-stopper at the RCDE Stadium last campaign, starting 28 of the club’s La Liga outings, but is now out of contract.
Reports as early as March say the goalkeeper said the goalkeeper was dropped in favour of Diego Lopez due to his pre-agreed arrangement to join Los Verdiblancos.
A report in ABC de Sevilla confirms that a deal has been agreed for Lopez to sign a five-year deal at Betis and he has arrived in the Andalusian capital on Monday ahead of a move.
Lopez, who formed part of Spain’s Under-21 squad in the European Championships last year, is seen as the long-term replacement for Antonio Adan at the Seville-based club.
Adan is out of contract with Betis in 2019 while backup goalkeeper Dani Gimenez has joined Deportivo.
