Layun: Sevilla stay unlikely

Defender Miguel Layun has admitted Sevilla have not contacted him since the expiration of his loan deal and he believes he will return to Porto.

The 29-year-old – who has impressed for Mexico in the World Cup clash – made 16 La Liga appearances for Los Rojiblancos since joining on a January loan deal from the Portuguese giants.

Los Rojiblancos decided not to trigger their €4m option to sign the full-back but are reportedly still pondering on a permanent move for the former Watford defender.

“I believe it will be difficult for me to continue at Sevilla,” Layun told El Larguero on Monday evening.

“I think if they had that intention themselves they would have already contacted me or my agent, but there have been no words exchanged.

“I do not rule out returning to the club and I believe it would be a good move for me but it is not my decision.

“It was a dream to play for that team but I understand that their needs may be different.”
