Emery ‘phones’ Sevilla’s Ever Banega

Sevilla plan to talk to Ever Banega after the World Cup while new Arsenal boss Unai Emery has reportedly phoned the player.

A report in Seville-based Estadio Deportivo states Emery, who managed Banega at both Valencia and Sevilla, has personally phoned the player as he attempts to restructure his Arsenal squad.

Marca meanwhile report on a meeting being planned upon Argentina’s return from Russia, as they are worried a club could trigger his €20m (£17.5m) release clause.

The Argentine international joined the Seville-based club initially in 2014 under the behest of Emery, now at the helm of Arsenal, who had managed him for three seasons at Los Che.

The 29-year-old became a key component across the following two campaigns at Sevilla, helping them to a further two European titles before departing for Inter in 2016 when Emery left for Paris Saint-Germain.

Banega returned to the Andalusian club last following an unsuccessful season in Italy.
