Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has rejected comments from Coach Jorge Sampaoli about players not adapting to his system: “He can say what he wants.”
La Albiceleste crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Croatia on Thursday night to leave their World Cup campaign on the brink, with an apparent rift between the former Sevilla boss and his squad.
“Sampaoli can say whatever he wants,” Aguero told reporters in the mixed zone, as cited by Cadena Cope.
The striker was responding to the Coach stating at his press conference: “What has happened to this team so far is because how we have set up, the project has failed with these players.
“It is tough to function on an individual basis when they cannot fit the system.”
