Spain international goalkeeper David De Gea will sign a new contract at Manchester United to make him the world’s best paid shot-stopper, say Marca.
The Spanish shot-stopper has one year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, although United have the option to extend that agreement for a further 12 months.
The report in Marca states De Gea will put to pen to paper on a five-year contract worth a reported €21m a year, making him the highest paid goalkeeper in football.
Madrid attempted to sign the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper in 2015 but the move broke down at the eleventh hour due to a late fax missing the transfer deadline.
The European champions are set to turn their attention to Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker this summer.
