Barca’s Vidal wanted by Inter

Inter are reportedly pursuing a deal for out-of-favour Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal following their failure to capture Joao Cancelo from Valencia.

The Milanese giants failed to activate their €35m option to sign Cancelo, who spent last season on loan at the club, which expired at the end of May.

A report originating in Gazzetta dello Sport now explains the Nerazzurri have switched their attention to more affordable players, which has taken them to Vidal.

The 28-year-old is surplus to requirements at Barca, having appeared for more than 45 minutes just six times last season and an ‘affordable’ deal is probable, says the reports.

Despite long-term ankle issues, there are said to be no concerns over this scuppering a deal while his style of play is said to replicate the fit of Cancelo.

Inter are said to be hopeful of agreeing a season-long loan for the Spaniard with an option to buy for €10m, although Barca would be holding out for €15m.

Vidal has also been linked with a return to former club Sevilla, whom he left for Barca in 2015, for a number of months.
