PSG ‘must sell €60m worth of players’

Paris Saint-Germain must sell €60m worth of players to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations, according to reports.

The big-spending Parisian club have until the end of June to raise the funds or face further financial penalties and the threat of being kicked out of European competition.

An enquiry was launched into the French champions after last summer’s big spend which included a €420m outlay on Barcelona forward Neymar and Kylian Mbappe from rivals Monaco.

On Wednesday, UEFA confirmed it had ‘closed’ the investigation into the financial situation at the club, who are backed by Qatari owners, but no conclusions have been reached from the 2018 financial year.

A UEFA statement read: “The financial impact of transfer activities as from the 2017 summer — up to and including the upcoming transfer window — and compliance with the break-even requirement for the 2018 financial year will remain under close scrutiny and will be thoroughly looked at in the coming weeks.”

A number of players could now be sold by the French giants, with winger Goncalo Guedes, who spent last season on loan at Valencia, potentially among the sales.
