Nice end Marlon loan spell

Nice have confirmed the termination of Barcelona defender Marlon Santos’ two-year loan spell at the club a season early.

The 22-year-old joined the Catalan giants from Fluminense in 2016 but only appeared three times in Barca’s first team before joining Nice on a two year-long loan deal last summer.

The Brazilian has made 27 appearances for the Ligue 1 club this season and it appears this move will precede a permanent move to West Ham United, who are close to agreeing a five-year contract.

Earlier this month, El Mundo Deportivo cite the English club’s offer as being between €15-18m (£13-16m) with ‘negotiations on track’ and set to be concluded swiftly.

It has reportedly not been ruled out that the Blaugrana will retain a buyback clause in the deal.
