Gameiro ‘agrees’ Valencia move

Valencia have reportedly agreed terms with Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro for a summer move with just a transfer fee needing to be agreed.

Super Deporte claims the French striker has verbally agreed to join Los Che, who will compete in the Champions League next season, following a series of meetings since the conclusion of the campaign.

As Marca reported last week, the main stumbling block for a move for the former Paris Saint-Germain forward were his salary demands, but this appears to have been ironed out.

The 31-year-old joined Los Rojiblancos from Sevilla in the summer of 2016 but has struggled to nail down a regular first-team place in Diego Simeone’s side.

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has found himself behind Antoine Griezmann and January signing Diego Costa in the pecking order, while earlier this week reports in France linked him to moves to Lyon and Saint-Etienne.

Gameiro has netted 27 goals across his two seasons with Atleti but only started in 11 La Liga matches this campaign.

Fernando Torres has already left the club on a free transfer while Griezmann has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
