West Ham ask for Barca’s Rafinha

West Ham have entered the frame to sign Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara, who is also wanted by Inter, according to reports.

The Brazilian midfielder joined the Nerazzurri from Barca in a loan deal in January and made 17 appearances in Serie A, starting 12 of those games.

Diario Sport now report that a group of representatives from the Hammers flew out for a brief meeting in Barcelona with Rafinha said to be the discussion.

The agreement between the two clubs in January also saw the Milanese giants hold the option of signing the 25-year-old for an initial €35m, plus a further €3m in bonuses.

Sky Italia now report that due to Financial Fair Play demands, Inter are not in a position to meet this fee and despite requests, Barca will not lower the asking price.

Inter also missed out on the permanent signing of Joao Cancelo from Valencia, having been unable to trigger his €35m clause before it’s expiration at the end of May.
