Real Madrid defender Marcelo has stated Cristiano Ronaldo ‘does not own’ the club and ‘the door is open’ to Neymar’s arrival in Madrid.
The Brazilian was referencing reports that Ronaldo, 33, is dissatisfied at the club’s pursuit of the Paris Saint-Germain forward – an international teammate of Marcelo’s at this summer’s World Cup.
“Cristiano Ronaldo does not own Real Madrid,” Marcelo told a Brazil news conference, in quotes carried by Diario AS.
“I want Cristiano to stay but certain issues are not linked and they are reported that they are, because we always want the best players in the world to play for Madrid.
“The door is open for Neymar and if they president wants to sign someone, then he will move for them and it’s not like those two players are not compatible.
“I have always thought someday that Neymar would play for Real Madrid, but I do not know when!”
