Conte ‘rejects’ Real Madrid approach

Current Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has rejected an approach from Real Madrid to replace the outgoing Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, say reports.

According to Marca, the European Champions have now turned their attention to the Italian after failed pursuits for other Coaches, including Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

However, a subsequent update from Sky Sport Italia states the former midfielder has ruled out a move due to 'honouring his contract' at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian is expected to be dismissed with the club actively talking to other alternatives, but he is reportedly keen to receive all of his compensation package in such a scenario, with a year still remaining on his contract.

The reports continues that Madrid value the ‘intensity and work rate’ the former Juventus Coach instils in his teams and point to his four league titles won across the Bianconeri and Chelsea.

The 48-year-old began his coaching career at Arezzo, Bari, Atalanta and Siena while he also guided the Italian national team to the quarter-finals of the European Championships in 2016.
