Atletico Madrid have held a meeting with Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani’s agent with a view to a possible summer move, say reports in Spain.
El Mundo Deportivo say the Uruguayan striker is the ‘primary objective’ for Los Rojiblancos, should Antoine Griezmann decide to leave the club this summer.
Diego Simeone has reportedly previously held lengthy phone calls with Cavani, who indicated his willingness to play alongside countrymen Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez at club level.
The meeting between the 31-year-old’s agent and Atleti reportedly occurred in Madrid a couple of weeks ago, yet should Griezmann decide to stay, such a move would be dead in the water.
Cavani’s current contract at the Parisians runs through until June 2020.
