Pochettino: ‘What will be, will be…’

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has stated ‘what will be, will be’ after Spanish media reports linked him with the vacant Real Madrid job.

The Argentine recently extended his contract at the English club and he also confirmed that this new deal does not have a release clause, so any exit would be at the discretion of the North London club.

“What will be, will be,” Pochettino is cited as saying by Diario AS.

“I live in the here and now, there is no time more important than the present and I am enjoying that.

“Jorge Griffa once told me that I must let football take me where it wants, that I do not have to change my destiny.

“The most important aspect of management? Leadership is important in developing the game and empathy is very important, even moreso than tactical concepts.”

Zinedine Zidane resigned from the Madrid post on Thursday after winning his third successive Champions League title.
