Real Betis are reportedly plotting a swoop for Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez when the summer transfer window opens.
Mundo Deportivo reports that the 24-year-old has been identified as Los Beticos’ top target as they seek to strengthen their forward line before next term’s Europa League campaign.
Perez, who finished as the Premier League outfit’s top scorer last season with eight goals, has recently penned a new contract at St James’ Park which runs until 2021.
However, Betis are keen to land the former Spain Under-21 international and are confident he would look favourably on a return to Spain, despite the Andalusians having to convince The Magpies to offload the player.
Perez rejected alleged interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Porto to sign for Newcastle in June 2014 for a reported €3m, and has since gone on to make 142 league appearances, notching 30 goals.
