Andres Iniesta has confirmed there was contact from Manchester City after confirming his departure from Barcelona.
The Spain international is leaving the Camp Nou after the final game of the season this weekend after 16 seasons with the Blaugrana, sparking speculation over his next move, and he told Radio Marca that City boss Pep Guardiola had sounded him out.
“Pep sent me messages, yes, but there are some reports I don’t understand,” said the 34-year-old.
“I won’t ever play against Barcelona. My time at the top ends with Barca. There are now two scenarios, China and Japan, and the best choice will be made.
“Hopefully my decision will be made official next week.”
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Guardiola has called the reports “fake news” and says the Blues cannot offer the player what he had at Barcelona.
