Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke revelled in a ‘historic’ night for the club and believes the Wanda Metropolitano is ‘recreating’ the Calderon atmosphere.
The Spain international was part of the side who reached their fifth European final since 2010 as they defeated Arsenal 1-0 at home to advance to this month’s final against Marseille.
“The draw that we rescued in the first leg made things much easier for us,” Koke told Cadena Cope after Thursday’s match.
“All the fans needed a match like this and nobody will forget this because in 115 years of our history there have not been too many finals so it is historic for sure.
“We all want Griezmann to continue here beyond this season, we all love him and again you could see his commitment to the club tonight.
“Little by little, we are recreating the environment of the Vicente Calderon at the Wanda Metropolitano.”
