Jese ends Stoke loan deal early

Former Real Madrid and Las Palmas forward Jese Rodriguez has been granted unpaid compassionate leave from Stoke City for the remainder of his contract.

The 25-year-old Spaniard’s young son has suffered from complicated health problems while the player has encountered several disciplinary problems during his season-long loan spell from Paris St-Germain.

Jese – who has not featured in Stoke’s side since March – scored on his debut against Arsenal in August but has not netted in his 12 first-team appearances since.

Paul Lambert said last week that he had no intention of recalling the former Real Madrid player to his matchday squad this season.

The Spaniard’s spell in England has been heavily disrupted by frequent return trips to his native Gran Canaria to check on his child’s health.
