‘No Euro regret’, insists Iniesta

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta has no regrets over missing out on the Champions League and insists the league title is ‘very special’.

The 33-year-old will leave the Camp Nou at the end of the current campaign and has won the domestic double, with a quarter-final defeat to Roma in Europe a blotch on the perfect season.

“Each competition has its own value and its own difficulties,” Iniesta is cited as saying by Marca.

“This has been a great season for us in both La Liga and the Copa but next year the team will aim to make progress in Europe as we want to win every tournament we enter.

“The league is the toughest as it is all-year round, it is every single weekend and takes a lot of consistency to be successful in.

“We hold a big points advantage over second (Atletico Madrid) and every league title is special, but this one in particular.”
