Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta wants his gratitude towards those who have shown him affection ‘lasts forever’: “It is very special.”
The 33-year-old, who on Friday confirmed he was leaving Barca at the end of the season, was given a standing ovation by Deportivo fans during Sunday when he appeared as a late substitute.
“I cannot describe this feeling, it is very special both personally and as a footballer,” Iniesta is cited as saying by Marca.
“When you receive so much love and affection it is very difficult to process these feelings in the moments, but especially in their situation (Depor’s relegation) it was even more significant.
“This is a very beautiful moment and a thank you that lasts forever, and I hope this feeling I have from it also last forever.
“My exit is an honest decision that is best for me and my club, and everything good has to come to an end.”
