Arsene Wenger has described Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at home to Atletico Madrid as their ‘worst possible result’ considering the context of the game.
Antoine Griezmann punished shoddy defending from the home side to rescue a point for the 10 men after Alexandre Lacazette had given the hosts the lead on the hour mark.
“Looking at the performance and the way the game went, it was the worst possible result for us,” Wenger told BT Sport after the match.
“But we have to go there in a positive mood and qualify.
“Of course it feels like an opportunity missed. We could have qualified tonight but it didn't happen. Their keeper made a lot of saves and they showed their quality by scoring with one chance.
“What matters is that we go there with the belief to do it.”
