Emery confirms PSG departure

Coach Unai Emery has confirmed he will leave his position at Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current campaign: “It is finished.”

The 46-year-old has spent two seasons at the helm of the Parisian club having previous managed in La Liga with Almeria, Valencia and Sevilla.

The Coach is on course to guide PSG to a domestic treble this season but the last 16 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League has reportedly sealed his fate.

“I have told the players, (sporting director) Antero (Henrique) & the president (chairman & CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi) that it is finished,” Emery told reporters on Friday at a press conference.

“I thank everybody. All that remains is the Coupe de France final.”

Emery has been linked with a return to Real Sociedad, the club whom he supported as a boy and spent six years as a player.

La Real are currently seeking a permanent managerial appointment in the summer after Eusebio Sacristan’s dismissal last month.
