Barcelona B have sacked Coach Gerard Lopez (pictured) after five consecutive defeats in La Liga 123 with Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta appointed.
A home defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday made it nine league games without a win for Barcelona’s second team with the side lying 20th in the division, two points from safety.
Gerard was initially appointed to the role in 2015 and oversaw promotion at the end of his second campaign in charge, with the side enjoying a stronger campaign than their relegation in 2014/15.
The 39-year-old spent five years in the first-team squad at the Camp Nou after a spell at Valencia and he won six international caps for Spain.
Garcia Pimienta has been promoted from his role with the club’s youth teams to initially oversee the final six league matches of the campaign.
