Quique Setien hailed Joaquin after his ‘exemplary’ veteran set up Real Betis’ winner against Girona on Friday.
Joaquin ran almost the length of the pitch to assist Loren Moron for the only goal of the game at Montilivi as Betis opened a four-point lead in fifth place, despite Girona wrongly having a goal disallowed.
“It’s a great source of pride and satisfaction to see how these players are playing,” the Coach said after the 1-0 victory.
“We’ve reached the end of the season in an extraordinary state of mind. We’re in a great run of form.
“Seeing someone like Joaquin running the whole length of the pitch, getting past his opponents, is huge for everyone linked to Betis.
“Having players like him gives us huge joy. I told him that he has to feel proud about reaching this stage of his career like he has. His commitment, work rate and desire are exemplary.”
