Cordoba Coach Jose Ramon Sandoval is hoping his side can secure survival in the second tier before their final match of the season against Sporting Gijon.
The Andalusian outfit have won 19 points in Sandoval’s eight matches in charge but remain mired in the relegation zone, while Sporting are hopeful of automatic promotion this campaign.
“I hope there is nothing at stake for our match against Sporting,” Sandoval told Cadena Cope’s Tiempo de Juego show.
“Fate can be a curious thing but we hope that we do not have to play for anything in that match as it could be a big risk to leave our situation to that match, but I am optimstic.
“Our performance (against Lorca) was probably the worst since I have taken over but the most important thing was three points and maintaining momentum.”
