Pique: Roma stood up to us

Gerard Pique praised Roma for ‘standing up’ to Barcelona but felt 4-1 was a ‘good result’ for the Champions League semi-finals.

Pique was one of Barca’s goalscorers on Tuesday night at Camp Nou, although two of them were Roma players.

“We had a good game. Maybe not conceding would’ve been better, but we’ll take a good result to Rome,” the defender told BeIN Sports after the game.

“A lot of people said it would be easy, but they stood up to us. It’s true that they were more defensive than we expected, but they still played some great football.

“Own goals? It’s not down to luck. Several of our attempts didn’t go in. I think if these goals went in, it’s because we pushed up. The ball was in their box more.

“We try to do our jobs, putting ourselves in with a chance of winning every competition. The season is still looking very good for us.”
