Borussia Dortmund are preparing to launch a club record bid to sign Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez this summer, say reports in the Spanish press.
A report in Galicia en Goles suggests that negotiations between the clubs have already informally begun, with the German club hopeful of a deal below €50m.
Celta sporting director Felipe Minambres is said to have recently visited the Germany city and relations between the two clubs are healthy.
Gomez only joined the Galician outfit last June from hometown club Defensor Sporting in a €4m deal and has netted 13 goals in 29 La Liga appearances.
The 21-year-old was top scorer in the Uruguayan domestic league and his fine start to life at Estadio Balaidos – including a brace on his debut against Real Sociedad – earned him a first international call-up.
Gomez signed a five-year deal at Estadio Balaidos but was reportedly close to leaving the club in January but a proposed €25m move to Beijing Guoan broke down.
