Sevilla’s sporting director has urged Vincenzo Montella to make better use of his squad. “It’s as if we sign Messi and the Coach doesn’t play him.”
Montella has generally overlooked Sevilla’s signings since last summer, with only Simon Kjaer, Ever Banega and Jesus Navas appearing regularly under the Italian.
“We give the Coach the tools to work with and he manages them,” Oscar Arias said after the Andalusians’ 2-2 draw with Barcelona on Saturday.
“He picks players depending on the considerations he makes. We can’t discuss each player’s ability.
“It's as if we sign Messi and the Coach doesn’t play him. If he doesn’t play him, it’s his decision and he manages it.
“We give him the resources to have a competitive XI. I think we’ve done that and that’s what we’re doing.”
