Koke: Isco welcome at Atleti…

Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has joked that Isco would be welcome at the club due to lack of playing time at Real Madrid.

The Madrid playmaker netted a hat-trick for Spain against Argentina on Tuesday but has struggled for regular game-time with the European champions this season.

“He reaches his highest level when he plays for Spain, his level is spectacular,” Koke said, as cited by Diario AS.

“I don’t see him in training with Madrid so I don’t know why he is not being selected by Zidane so…I love Isco, and if he isn’t playing regularly at his club, I’m sure we could start him here at Atletico!”

The midfielder was also asked about a series of other issues, including the club’s current small squad, which stands at just 17 outfield players.

“It’s not good when players are out injured, but we have reserves who can make the step up and do a good job,” added the Spain international.

“Our squad may be small but it has a lot of quality and whilst we know the league is a difficult objective, we are doing well and want as many points as possible.

“If we cannot win the league, we want to finish second and we also have the Europa League – that competition is important for our fans after our Champions League exit.”
