Fabian wants long-term Betis stay

Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz has thanked Coach Quique Setien for helping him ‘reach a high level of performance’ this season.

The 21-year-old has risen to prominence for the Seville-based club this season after spending the previous campaign on loan at lower league Elche.

Earlier this year, the Seville-native signed a new long-term contract at the club with a bumper release clause following reported interest from elsewhere.

“Thanks to Setien I am enjoying a high level of performance this year,” Fabian is cited as saying by ABC de Sevilla.

“I decided to stay at Betis because I think it has a really strong project this season and moving forward, hopefully we will be fighting for Europe at the end of the campaign.

“In Sevilla you experience a lot of football, it has the biggest and best derby in football and the feeling of passion is very strong.

“Setien has given me a lot of confidence since pre-season and thanks to him I am playing very well this year.”
