Deulofeu: Barca return difficult

Gerard Deulofeu admitted it would be ‘very difficult’ for him to return to Barcelona following his current loan spell at Watford.

The Spanish forward joined the Hornets on a loan deal for the remainder of the season in January, and he admitted it was his ‘fault’ he did not make more first-team appearances at the Camp Nou.

“It will be very difficult for me to return,” Deulofeu told an interview with Esports Cope.

“Barcelona let me leave on loan because they do not have an interest in me while I had not played in a long time – things were not working out and I was not happy sitting on the bench.

“Since joining Watford I have been very happy, they have treated me well and when I have been playing I have felt good.

“At the end of the season I will need to speak to Barca, to discuss things with my agent but I cannot say exactly what will happen because it is not all down to me.

“My failure there was my fault, I did not do enough to earn the right to start more games and I did not prove myself.

“Valverde gave me the opportunities but I did not take them.”
