Xavi signs new Al Sadd deal

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has officially extended his contract with Al Sadd, but his role is unclear.

Al Sadd confirmed the news on their official Twitter account, but Sport notes it is not certain that the 38-year-old will fulfil his new deal as a player.

The newspaper explains the playmaker ‘has always shown a desire to become a Coach’ and therefore could start his journey in Qatar.

Xavi joined Al Sadd in the summer of 2015 after a legendary spell with Barca, which spanned three decades, and has scored six goals and assisted seven in 20 appearances this season.

He is also an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup, which will be held in the Arab nation.
